We all wish the world was a perfect place where every holiday included a photobomb by your puppy and every boardroom meeting had fur flying around. Sadly, we are quite a way away from that still.

If you had to travel and your pupster is as spoilt as we think they are, then kennels and boarding facilities with lots of dogs just won’t cut it for you. You need a place where your pupster gets individual care and attention from a genuine dog lover just like you — who promises your puppy will have a ball when you are away.

Regardless of how awesome the sitter is, you are still your pup’s favorite hooman in the whole wide world, so when you are away, it will cause them some discomfort. Follow the steps below to make the experience awesome for your doggo.

Puppy Details

Before you send messages to potential sitters, ensure that you have added as many details of your doggo on the app as possible. Details like your puppy’s temperament, routine, medications, etc allows sitters to identify if they can be the perfect sitter for your puppy.

Start planning early

The critical step to finding the perfect sitter for your puppy is to start the search early on. This allows you to vet the sitter properly, and exchange relevant information about your pup, and schedule a visit before you leave your pup.

We recommend that you send messages to at least 3 sitters of your choice. The sitters themselves may not be available during your travel dates, and sending more messages increases your likelihood of getting an acceptance.

Visiting the sitter

We cannot stress enough on the importance of a visit before you leave your dog with the sitter. This allows you to see how the sitter is with your puppy, and familiarizes your pupster with the sitter’s home before you leave them.

When you visit your sitter, do check for the following:

  • Is the sitter’s house pet safe?
  • Is their home in a pet friendly neighborhood?
  • Have they sat similar dogs before?
  • Who will be the primary caregiver?
  • Who will take the pupster for walks?
  • Are they comfortable with following your doggo’s routine?

Do remember to show off your puppy’s amazing trick routines to the sitter.

Important! Some sitters in vegetarian households may not be okay to have non-vegetarian kibble or cooked food in their homes. If you feed your puppy non-vegetarian food, do ensure that you clarify with the sitter if they are okay with that.

Doggo’s Routine

When you fill out your pup’s details on the Waggle app, do ensure to include the following:

  • A handsome irresistible photo of your pupster
  • Your pup’s daily routine including feeding schedule, walks, poo and pee schedule, sleep schedule, playtimes and anything else you can think of!
  • Your pup’s temperament — how do they interact with other dogs, activities they like doing, and the things they don’t.

Keywords, commands and toys

Sitters want to have a ball with your puppy as well, so do tell them all the tricks and commands that you’ve painstakingly taught your pupster. If you’ve named your puppy’s toys, make sure you convey those cute and silly names to the sitter too. This challenges your puppy mentally during playtimes and ensures that your pup will have a sense of familiarity at the sitter’s.

Medicines, allergies, or home remedies your follow

Do let the sitter know of any medications that your doggo is on and how to administer them. If your pup is allergic to certain foods or environmental stimuli, make sure you fill it out in your pup’s profile.

If you have any quick and easy home remedies that you follow for your pup’s occasional health issues, do make sure you let the sitter know the same.

Vet Details

And finally, if the sitter does require any assistance during your travel, leave your vet’s details with the sitter. This allows them to get the necessary help from a vet familiar with your puppy in case of an emergency.
